Reflèxion Bastion St. Antonie – Geneva

The ideas of protection, conservation and historical recognizability of places in the context of contemporary museum architecture, if not intended as a “program”, can easily be freed from architectural connotations of functional nature about form, size and matter. Interpreting the same ideas under the definition of “programmatic necessities”, these assume within the project a fundamental role in the search for an architectural museum space ideal for narrating the past and the relationship between history and contemporaneity. The aim of the project is to create a potential new spatial archetype in museum architecture, a contemporary “offering” architecture, sober and silent, able to bring together the past, protected and preserved, with the dynamics of use defined by modernity.
